What others think about MILS 

Valuable tool

Lilka used the MILS tool to help our son. He really enjoyed getting all the attention and we as parents really appreciated gaining insight into his learning strategy. Lilka takes the time to explain everything well. Thanks to the MILS method, we can now understand him better and therefore also guide him better. I also took the MILS test to see if our learning strategies are similar. We sent the report to our son’s school so that his teachers know how he learns. It’s a very valuable tool.

Exams passed thanks to MILS

In my final year of secondary school, Lilka administered the MILS psychological test on me. I often didn't know how or where to start studying. I have difficulty concentrating and because some of the classes were cancelled due to the pandemic, I had little guidance from my school. The test showed that I had to make overviews – drawn overviews. For history, I started drawing circles with smaller circles around them and connections between the circles, so to speak. This also worked well for art history. Instead of rereading a chapter four times and still did not understanding what it says, I started looking up videos on the internet because it turned out that I absorb information better when someone tells me it than when I read it. I passed my exam and this is partly thanks to the techniques that Lilka taught me.

Good grades

We conducted a study of learning strategies for my daughter Lera (9 years old) in Russian. Lera was behind in many ways: she wrote letters backwards, read poorly, and had sloppy handwriting, but the biggest problem she had was with arithmetic and with her concentration. With the MILS test, Lilka identified important aspects of the approach to learning. She explained how the material should be presented and she gave examples of special exercises to train the two hemispheres of the brain. We followed all of the MILS tips and saw the results right away. Now my daughter reads much better and has beautiful handwriting. We do arithmetic with a specific approach and have seen positive results. We are very happy with the MILS method and especially Lilka, who showed us the right approach to support our child's learning and, as a result, get good grades at school.

More fun learning

Dorus (14) was having a very difficult time learning in secondary school. Doing homework took hours and his concentration was lacking, which is why my son was starting to give up. The outcome of the learning strategy research was surprising and it helped Dorus a lot – and me indirectly too, of course. Learning is not quite a party yet, but it is much more enjoyable. The results showed that he scored 0 points on the item "need for structure", which means that he first wants to see the whole "picture" in order to understand the subject matter. This is exactly the opposite of the way topics were taught at school. We discussed this results of the MILS test with his school, and now the teachers give Dorus a summary of the lesson to read beforehand, so that he understands the big picture. He scored 28 points on the test item “learning together”. It helps him enormously to talk about the subject matter with someone; this way he absorbs the subject matter much easier and faster. In short, I am very grateful to Lilka for this new insight. It saves us time, energy and it has made learning much more fun. I can recommend the MILS method to anyone who has difficulty learning. It’s a very valuable tool.
